Safety King in the Community: Our History in Southeast Michigan

Supporting Local Causes

• Maria Donadio Golf Classic for MDA. Since the event began in 1995, Safety King has taken part in this Southeast Michigan fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. By 2008 the Classic had passed $1,000,000 raised, and by 2011 the Donadio family's 16-year total had reached $1,149,621.
• Care House "Christmas for Kids." In 2013, Safety King purchased a Nutcracker sponsorship at the Care House fundraiser at MacRay Harbor in Harrison Township.
• Sterling Heights SHINE Day. In 2012, Safety King joined the Community Pride and SHINE volunteer day hosted by Heritage Church in Sterling Heights.
• Eisenhower High School Football. Safety King has been a proud supporter of the Eisenhower football program in Shelby Township.

The Safety King Kid

For years, the Safety King Kid has been a familiar face at local events. The Kid marched behind the Safety King truck in the Romeo Peach Festival Floral Parade on Labor Day in 2010 and 2011, joined the Columbus Day Parade in Clinton Township in 2010, and visited a local elementary school's Career Day in 2012, where students were amazed, and a little grossed out, by what comes out of air ducts.

Meeting Homeowners at Home Shows

Safety King has exhibited at home shows across Michigan for years, often with one of its Giant Power Vacuum Trucks on display so visitors could see the equipment up close. Shows have included the Novi Home Improvement Show at the Suburban Collection Showplace (2007, 2012, 2013 and 2016), the Novi Home and Garden Show (2013 and 2014), the Macomb Home Improvement Show (2007 and 2014), the West Michigan Home and Garden Show in Grand Rapids (2012) and the Dearborn Women's Expo (2009).

Leading in the Air Duct Cleaning Industry

Safety King's founder was a NADCA charter member in 1987 and served as NADCA president in 1991. The Palazzolo family has represented Safety King at the association's national meetings for decades, including:

• Sponsoring NADCA's 17th Annual Meeting and Exposition in Dallas in 2006
• The 21st Annual Conference in Tucson in 2010, attended by Mike Palazzolo, MJ Palazzolo and Marcus Palazzolo
• The 25th Annual Meeting in San Antonio in 2014
• The 30th Annual Meeting in Nashville in 2019, where Mike joined other past NADCA presidents

Safety King has also taken part in the Duct Cleaners Network conferences, including the 2008 conference in Indianapolis and the 2010 conference held near Detroit.
